452 - Vesta Statue

Italian handcarved sculpture statue carve by our artisan, carved in Vicenza stone (show in white stone color).

The name of the goddess appears connected to that of the Greek Estia (Εστία, Ƒεστία), but the cult of Vesta had to be ancient and probably indigenous. His private worship was never very important and was soon overtaken by that of the Penates, the Lares and the Genius.

The development and importance of public worship was very great: it took place at the hearth of the state, in the aedes roundabout Vestae del Foro, where the goddess was venerated as Vesta publica populi Romani.

Here the vestal virgin priestesses awaited his worship.
